House muziek is en blijft de grote passie van Niels. Wel is er qua stijl het één en ander veranderd. Niels is zich meer gaan richten op de groove. Dat was is ook wel te horen aan zijn in oktober 2005 uitgebrachte track “12 INCH”.  De overstap is eigenlijk langzaam gegaan. Op een bepaald moment realiseerde Niels zich, dat hij veel enthousiaster werd van de swingende loops met lekkere beats zoals die in groove zitten, dan van de hardere club. Dat was wel raar om te ervaren. Moest er dan echt een overstap komen?  Toen Niels in de studio zat en merkte dat de BPM al een flink stuk gedaald was en dat de ingrediënten die gebruikt werden toch wel wat anders waren dan bij de vorige releases, was het wel duidelijk; Niels de Vries gaat overstappen.

12 INCH heeft veel goeds voor Niels gedaan. De plaat heeft veel support van dj’s in de dansscène gehad. In menig danslijst heeft hij op hoge noteringen gestaan en de track is veelvuldig gedraaid bij radiostations.

Ook in het buitenland is 12 INCH goed opgepakt. Zeker Engeland heeft veel positieve geluiden laten horen. En in Duitsland is 12 INCH op het label “Aqualoop”uitgebracht.
Door het slagen van de plaat kwamen ook meer boekingen, in binnen- en buitenland.
Niels heeft de smaak van het produceren flink te pakken, hij brengt veel tijd in de studio door. De opvolger van 12 INCH zal waarschijnlijk ook niet lang op zich laten wachten.

House music is and will always be the big passion of Niels. But in his preference of sound there has been a change. Niels has dedicated himself more to the groovy sound. That’s what you can hear when you listen to his, in oktober 2005 released track 12 INCH. The transition to groove has gone slowly. At a certain moment Niels realised that he was going strong on the swinging loops and pumping beats like they are used in groove, more than on club-music. That was a strange realisation. Was it really time for a transition? When Niels was in the studio, and he realised that the BPM had gone down quite a bit already and the ingredients being used were pretty different, it became clear; Niels de Vries is going in transition.
12 INCH has done  a lot of good for Niels. The record had much support by dj’s in the dansscene. He was highly ranked on many dans charts and the track had a lot of airplay.

Also abroad they seemed to like his 12 INCH. Especially the UK came with many positive responses. And in Germany 12 INCH was released on the “Aqualoop” label. With the succes of the record more bookings came along, in The Netherlands and abroad. Niels is really getting more and more into producing, he is spending a lot of time in the studio.
It won’t be long before Niels releases his next track.
